How Sometimes the Wrong Way is the Better Way

The other day my wife and I had just finished shopping and were headed home. As I turned out of the parking lot, I took a right instead of a left to which she noted that I was headed the wrong way. My reply was that it may be longer but it is quicker. She gave me “that” look and I began really hoping for once that I was right.

The reason I turned right was I knew I could make two quick turns and hit the interstate which should get us home a little quicker. If I took a left, we would be stuck in traffic and stopped by multiple lights. Though it would be in the correct direction and shorter distance, it would take us longer to get there.

This got me to thinking…“How many other times do we need to go against the normal path in order to reach our destination faster in life?”

GO AGAINST THE BEATEN PATH
Something I have come to know is that God does not work in the same understanding and direction as we do. He has His own way of doing things and if we just line up our faith with His movement, then supernatural advancements will shower down on us like a refreshing spring rain in April.

By us going against the normal directions in our lives and listening to God, our family has been blessed to get where we wanted to be in life but at a much quicker pace. Since we did not always follow the well beaten path of those before us, we advanced higher at an exciting rate! Sometimes it may have been the long way to get there in terms of distance, but it was definitely the quickest.

One of these times was when we moved to Texas.

OUR STAY IN TEXAS
One major move we made in our lives together was when we packed up and headed to the great country of Texas. By all accounts it looked like we were going backwards in our lives. However, God knew it was the best way to thrust us forward. And He of course was right.

It was in Texas that we were able to grow our family, grow our finances, and grow our faith. Being uprooted and shipped off to a foreign land (Yes, talking about Texas still), and brought back home to Tennessee, we ended up better off. You see, God did in two years what could have taken us ten years to do if we never left home.

Through our faith, we have seen Him open some mighty big doors of opportunities that we would have missed if we did things our way. That is why I am encouraging you to let go of the normal and go with the supernatural.

BE OPEN TO NEW DIRECTIONS
I want you to find what it is that God may be trying to help you with. Does it seem out of the ordinary? Is it something that you are not understanding? If so, then it just might be something huge and exciting!

Ask yourself what it is in your life that God wants to help you with? Are you living by faith and allowing God to “move” you in His direction? Or are you staying on the path of normalcy?

Sometimes you have to:

  • Put faith before facts.
  • Push aside “natural” understanding to receive supernatural directions.
  • Let go of reasoning and just start believing.
  • Give into God’s way to start seeing a better way.
  • Let go of cautious reserves in favor of courageous detours.

By the way, I enjoyed my time in Texas and met some really amazing people who I believe will be lifelong friends. Texas is a wonderful place and I can’t wait to go back for a visit one day. But first I will have to make sure my passport is renewed.
